Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience Munich

The Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience Munich (BCCN Munich) was founded in 2005. Its scientists are intrigued by the question of how space and time are represented in the brain. The neural processing of spatiotemporal information is crucial for many organisms – from localizing objects to planning and controlling future movements. To understand how organisms perform the required complex computation, the Bernstein Center Munich takes an interdisciplinary and comparative approach.

The Bernstein Center Munich is closely linked to a number of local research networks ranging from computer science, electrical engineering and physics to biology, neurology, cognitive science and philosophy. Scientists and students of the Bernstein Center Munich participate in various training and teaching programs at master and PhD level. Here, the Graduate School of Systemic Neurosciences is playing a particularly integrative role as it offers a specialization in Computational Neuroscience.
