Our mission

The Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience supports science, research and education in computational neuroscience, and disseminates research themes and findings to the public. It is recognized as a non-profit organization.
Research in the Bernstein Network unites physics, biology, mathematics, medical science, psychology, computer science, engineering and philosophy in the endeavor to understand how the brain functions. It combines bio-medical experiments with theoretical models and thereby opens new avenues for scientific insights and applications.

Our activities

Who can become a member?

Everyone who is active in the field of computational neuroscience or related subjects can become a member of the Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience.

Membership applications require the support of two active members of the Bernstein Network, one of which must be a Principal Investigator. Your supporters must send their endorsement directly via email to bernstein.network@fz-juelich.de.

As you must enter the names of your supporters in the application form, we recommend to contact potential supporters before filling out and submitting the form.

Please note that your application can only be processed once both endorsements have been received.

Annual membership fees

Student / Doctoral Researcher (certificate required): 30 Euro
Postdoctoral Researcher: 50 Euro
Principal Investigator / Faculty: 70 Euro
Emeriti 50 Euro

Please note: the processing time for membership applications is about 3-4 working days. You will receive your membership number app. 3 workingdays after your membership fee has reached our account.
