Reaching Frankfurt
Frankfurt am Main, with its almost 800 000 inhabitants, is one of the biggest cities in Germany. Due to its central location, it has developed into an infrastructural hub in Germany and Europe and can be easily reached by train via Frankfurt Central Station or plane via Frankfurt Airport (FRA).
Please note: “Frankfurt am Main”, often simply referred to as “Frankfurt”, is located in central Germany on the Main river. There is also a city called “Frankfurt (Oder)” located on the Oder river in eastern Germany. When planning your trip, make sure you are heading for Frankfurt am Main.
Check-In Information
Our conference takes place at Goethe University Frankfurt – Campus Westend:
- The Main Conference and Check-In/Badge Pick-Up are located in the “Hörsaalzentrum” building (Theodor-W.-Adorno-Platz 5).
- The Satellite Workshops take place in the “Seminarhaus” (Max-Horkheimer-Str. 4).
- Both locations are just a few minutes’ walk apart.
Important: If you are attending the Satellite Workshops, please check in and pick up your badge at the Hörsaalzentrum before heading to the Seminarhaus!
The check-in counter will be open continuously from 12:00 on Monday. Coffee and light refreshments will be served at the Seminarhaus from 12:00 until the workshops begin — come and chat with new faces and colleagues you haven’t seen in a while!

Getting there
There are many options to reach Campus Westend by public transportation:
From Frankfurt Central Station:
Take any S-Bahn train (S1 – S9) to station “Hauptwache”, then change to the subway lines U1, U2, U3, or U8 to station “Holzhausenstraße” or “Miquel-/Adickesallee”.
From Frankfurt Airport:
Take the S8 or S9 train to station “Hauptwache”, then change to the subway lines U1, U2, U3, or U8 to station “Holzhausenstraße” or “Miquel-/Adickesallee”.
If you are driving to campus, there is a public car park in the SKW building on Max-Horkheimer-Straße. It costs 2,50 € per hour or 25 € per day. More information here (in German).
The Conference Dinner can be best reached from the following stations:
Hauptwache (S1 – S6, S8 – S9, U1 – U3, U6 – U8)
Eschenheimer Tor (U1 – U3, U8)
Getting around
Our conference venue is easily accessible by public transportation. To move around Frankfurt, we recommend purchasing a weekly ticket, valid for unlimited journeys over seven consecutive days (including to and from the airport).
Weekly tickets are available for € 33,20 and can be purchased at ticket machines (e.g. at the train station) or online (website in German).
Accommodation
We suggest searching for an accommodation in the following districts:
- Bockenheim
- Bornheim
- Ostbahnhof
- around the European Central Bank
- around Campus Westend
You may want to avoid the area around the central train station.
