Physicist Dr. Viola Priesemann has taken up the professorship for Neural Systems Theory at the University of Göttingen on October 1, 2022. Priesemann has led the research group “Neural Systems Theory” at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization in Göttingen and the Institute for Dynamics of Complex Systems at Göttingen University since 2017.
She is a member of the Cluster of Excellence “Multiscale Bioimaging: from molecular machines to networks of excitable cells (MBExC)”. In addition, she leads a subproject in the Collaborative Research Center “Quantitative Synaptology” and in the Priority Program “Evolutionary Optimization of Neural Systems”.
In November 2021, she received the Lower Saxony Science Award in Hannover in the category “Scientist in an early career phase at a university or equivalent institution of higher education”.
