Science Days 2018

Listen and experience what your brain can do - this was was the motto of the Bernstein Network at the Science Days at Europa Park in Rust.

Our brain is super complex – and fast! There are many things that have not yet been researched and many things that encourage us to ask questions and join in. This year, three Bernstein Centres offered great exhibits at the Bernstein Network  booth: Freiburg, Munich and Göttingen.

See what it was like below.

We are looking forward to seeing you next time!

Visitors could playfully experience how millions of neurons in the brain can communicate with each other in fractions of a second. The neuron game at the Bernstein Center Freiburg illustrates how nerve cells have to work together within a network in order to solve a problem. The players themselves assume the role of nerve cells. And only when they coordinate their actions in a group will they reach their goal. Doctoral students at the Bernstein Center Freiburg and students of the Neuroscience Master’s programme at the University of Freiburg  were happy to answer questions. >> more about the Bernstein Center Freiburg

The hands-on interactive exhibit from the Bernstein Center Munich revolved around acoustics and the exploration of hearing. Especially for hearing-impaired or deaf people, it is a great challenge to grasp the surroundings acoustically or to listen to music with pleasure. Everyone was invited to try out how this sounds – generating some wow moments. >> more about the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience Munich

Rsearchers at the Bernstein Center in Göttingen are working on the question of whether one can hear with light or whether something like a light switch for the ear is possible at all? >> more about the Bernstein Center for Computational Neuroscience Göttingen

Science Days at Europa Park Rust

The Science Days are a big science festival at Europa-Park Rust near Freiburg, which attracts up to 18,000 visitors every autumn. From Thursday, 18 October to Saturday, 20 October 2018, children, young people and adults can take part in workshops, visit science shows and experience science and technology.
