BERNSTEIN CONFERENCE

Meet our exhibitors and learn more about the organizations joining us at this year’s conference. Backyard Brains, EBRAINS, eLife, and NEST will be on site to present their work, tools, and resources to support your computational neuroscience research.

The Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience will also be represented at the exhibition. Learn more about the network, its initiatives, and opportunities to connect with the community. Meet with representatives from Bernstein Centers, Bernstein Nodes, and Bernstein Facilities.

The exhibition will be open throughout the Main Conference, from September 29 at 14:30 to October 1 at 11:00, in the Hörsaalzentrum.

Backyard Brains Foundation

We bridge the education gap of at risk students by providing accessible neuroscience curricula and equipment at no cost. We believe in ‘Neuroscience for Everyone!’ and strive to ensure that all students, regardless of financial constraints, have the opportunity to explore and understand the complexities of the brain. In partnership with Backyard Brains Inc., we deliver hands-on neuroscience experiences and educational support to inspire the next generation of scientists, researchers, and informed citizens.

EBRAINS

EBRAINS is a digital research infrastructure providing an extensive range of data, tools and services for brain-related research. Building on the achievements of the Human Brain Project in digital neuroscience, brain medicine and brain-inspired technologies, EBRAINS takes this work to the next level. Supported by the European Commission, EBRAINS is advancing a growing network of National Nodes and institutional partners across Europe.

eLife

eLife is a non-profit organisation advancing open science by transforming how research is communicated, reviewed, and assessed to build a fairer, more effective global research ecosystem. We publish research that transcends fields and influences multiple disciplines. In Neuroscience we review research including brain function, neuronal circuits, synapses, sensory processing and motor pattern generation. Your research is pioneering; it deserves to be published in a journal that’s pioneering too.

The Neural Simulation Technology Initiative (NEST)

NEST is a simulator for spiking neural network models that focuses on the dynamics, size and structure of neural systems rather than on the exact morphology of individual neurons. The development of NEST is coordinated by the NEST Initiative.

NEST is ideal for networks of spiking neurons of any size, for example, models of information processing, models of network activity dynamics, or models of learning and plasticity.

Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience

The Bernstein Network Computational Neuroscience connects experimental and theoretical scientists. It comprises more than 200 research groups and 600 individual scientists from all over the world who combine experimental neuroscientific approaches with theoretical models and computer simulations.

Bernstein Nodes

Established in 2025, the Bernstein Nodes are a new structure within the Bernstein Network. They bring together researchers in computational neuroscience at locations where many Network members are active, but no Bernstein Center is established. The Bernstein Nodes strengthen collaboration across disciplines and locations, connecting researchers locally as well as nationally and internationally. As nodes can be established worldwide, they offer a flexible way to bring the Bernstein Network to new places and communities.

Bernstein Facilities

The central facilities of the Bernstein Network support the members of the network professionally, organizationally, and in communication.
Experts support members in their research, for example through research data management and by facilitating access to high-performance computing (HPC) resources at Forschungszentrum Jülich. In addition, science managers and communicators coordinate and support scientific networking, early-career researcher development, and professional and public outreach.

Bernstein Facility for Research Data Management (G-Node)

The German Neuroinformatics Node (G-Node) provides tools and services supporting open science, collaboration, and training in data analysis, neuroinformatics, and research data management.

Bernstein Facility for High-Performance Simulation and Data Analysis (SDLN)

The Simulation and Data Lab Neuroscience (SDLN) brings neuroscience and HPC closer together through comprehensive support oriented to the needs of the neuroscience community.

Bernstein Coordination Site (BCOS)

The Bernstein Coordination Site (BCOS) is your central contact for any information and questions about the Bernstein Network. It supports the scientists of the Bernstein Network in their joint activities and serves as a link between the network partners.
